Learning to pay attention to popular culture, Part II

For decades, Indiana Jones has been a powerful player in American pop culture. OK, what does Indy believe?

First of all, thank you to the readers who “took” my fun little pop-culture analysis test this week in the “Learning to pay attention to popular culture” post. Not that many people answered, but the ones who did passed the test. More participation, please!

Now, on to “Learning to pay attention to popular culture, Part II.” Will this be a trilogy? That depends on what I can find on YouTube linked to another classic “signal” from my Denver Seminary classroom, years ago.

Thanks for reading Terry Mattingly -- Rational Sheep. Please subscribe during our “launch phase” or go ahead and make a pledge to support my online work.

This short podcast focuses on a recent On Religion column with this headline: “Why won’t Indiana Jones convert to something after all he has seen in his life?” I read the whole column, during this podcast, but clicking through to the actual text will provide URLs to the sources that I quoted.

Also, here is an Amazon.com link to the Rod Bennett book that I mentioned: “The Popcorn Cathedral — Essays at the Junction of Film, Faith, and Fantasy.” Bennett is a Catholic apologist and media critic who lives here in East Tennessee. Click here to visit his YouTube channel.

Thanks for listening, and please offer feedback in the comments section.
