Interesting email from a reader out there: Just fyi, NYT did not mention close relationship between Thiel and Opus Dei priest Arne Panula at Stanford. Given the Opus Dei Leonard Leo influence in DC, where Panula ran K ST CIC, you’d think that might have been relevant. Gareth Gore in his book Opus explores it as does Austin Ruse in his obit on Panula. Deliberate coverup or just c*** journalism?
Very interesting. I’ve heard his name but didn’t know much about him. Fascinating. I myself grew up SDA in Northern California (Santa Cruz area) and went through a lot of searching myself. Thiel’s theology sounds similar in many ways. Adventists certainly believe we are living in the era of the anti christ!
