Read From Christendom to Apostolic Mission detailing our descent from Judeo Christian values to open hostility toward both (note the blatant anti-Semitism at college campuses) Such anti J-C actions would have been unthinkable when I was growing up.

The three stages in your post are similar but this books gives a more detailed view of how the J-C values permeated our culture. My parents were atheists and I grew up without any church attendance. But there was not the hostility we see now. My parents brushed off the Bible as myths and Jesus as a great teacher.

When I became Catholic I was shocked by the anti Catholic bigotry where I was living. The bluest of the blue parts of the bluest and least churched state, Portland Oregon (yes it really is that awful). I planned to leave the state to escape the diabolical influence in the city but found an area of Oregon where people may or may not go to church but at least they aren’t hostile.

The blue states don’t seem to understand that chasing out taxpayers will mean financial disaster. I can’t wait to hear them screaming for federal support
